Graded quizzes 2 and 3 will be handed out on Wednesday, September 23, with solutions. Graded quiz 4 will be handed out on Friday, September 25, with solutions. Quiz 4 median was 6 points. Nine students obtained the max score. Median for all four quizzes is 7 points.

Math 2410 Test 1 on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2015 (based on HW for Chapter 1) will have problems, which are based on the following questions. One hand written two-sided page of notes is allowed. Calculators are not allowed.

  1. find the general solution of the given first order separable differential equation
  2. find the general solution of the given first order linear differential equation
  3. find the solution to the given initial value problem for these equations
  4. phase lines and bifurcations
  5. sketch solutions
  6. Euler's method

Other resources besides the textbook, HW and the Q-center: most of the material for this test is covered in Calculus. There are lots of places on the internet that can provide some help. Wolfram alpha can solve most of the problems. The linear approximation in calculus is essential for the Euler's method. The best calculus textbook is by Stewart. Concerning differential equations, there are video lectures recorded at UConn and MIT. However note that these videos do not substitute for doing the HW.
