8:00 am    Schenker Lecture Hall opens: MATHLETES, coaches and proctors arrive

8:00 am-8:30 am    REGISTRATION

8:40 am    MATHLETES are seated-Announcements and instructions reviewed

8:45 am    Welcome message from the CLAS Dean Ofer Harel

8:50 am-9:45 am    Sprint Round - followed by 15 minute break

10:00 am-10:40 am    Target Round - followed by 15 minute break

10:55 am-11:35 am   Team competition

11:35 am-12:30 pm    LUNCH BREAK for MATHLETES


12:30 pm-1:30 pm    Presentation by Alexandra Hain, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Connecticut

Title:   From Bridges to Battleships: How Math Fuels Innovation on Land and Sea

1:40 pm-2:25 pm    Countdown Round

2:25 pm-2:45 pm    UConn trivia competition

2:45 pm-3:00 pm    Awards Ceremony

3:00 pm    Competition completed-clean up


Food:
Please note that the CSPE will not be providing refreshments at this year's competition
Coaches, participants and parents may bring lunch and eat in the adjacent Student Union
Most of the places at Student Union's food court are cashless

Things to do on UConn campus: while many places are closed on Sundays, there are still several you can visit

The William Benton Museum of Art Open on Sundays 1–4pm

the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry Open on Sundays 11:00am-5:00pm

UConn Dairy Bar Open on Sundays 11:00am-6:00pm

Campus tours for Middle School Groups: currently, there are no guided tours for middle school groups, however, we welcome you to come to campus and follow a self-guided tour.


Directions and parking:
Searchable campus map can be found here. During weekends visitors can park in any parking spot on campus (unless otherwise marked)
The closest parking garage to the Schenker Lecture Hall is South Garage (parking fees are posted here) or in Downtown Storrs
Particpants can be dropped off at Hillside Road across from the Gampel Pavilion to walk to McHugh Hall

Safety: Schenker Lecture Hall is located close to the Mirror Lake and Monteith Hall where the Department of Mathematics is housed. The Division of Public Safety can be found here
Coaches need to ensure students are chaperoned at any time they are outside of the testing room. Monteith 104 is reserved for accompanying persons.

2025 MATHCOUNTS Eastern Chapter competition at the University of Connecticut, February 23, 2025, is sponsored by
the Department of Mathematics and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut.

The event is hosted by the University of Connecticut's AMS Student Chapter, AWM Student Chapter and SIAM Student Chapter with the help from UConn's Alpha Phi Omega
